On their third full length release, Post Regiment from Poland pay tribute to the old polish Punk band "Tragiedia" & take their already unique and grabbing style of political punk even further - they're playing faster and with more aggression. This is a tough sound to describe because they play in a fast, driving way that makes you feel like you're wired to fuck on caffeine - makes you feel like you're going mad! This material has been out of print on vinyl for nearly fifteen years. This is the shit, though it is nothing more than just a raw thrash attack. It contains all the tracks from their self-produced flexi and their first album on Manic Ears. Ripcord defined English hardcore between 1984 and 1988. Along with Heresy, the Stupids, Doom and Extreme Noise Terror, they were one of the best bands that England had to offer at that time. Ripcord, though from Weston-Super-Mare would have loved being a D.C. (Teen Idols/G.I.) or Boston band (S.S.D. / D.Y.S.), but they were one of these bands that could easily out-rival their paragons.
Influenced by brutal US bands like Siege, Negative Approach, and Infest, Ripcord managed to create a sound of their own by melting together this sound with their UK roots and were among the best bands that came from this fucking island called Great Britain in the late 80's. This is the 2nd part of their discography containing the best songs from the Harvest Hardcore 7" plus their best but last LP.
This is the last part of their discography series. The songs featured on this Lp have been taken from almost opposite ends of Ripcord's recorded works from `86 to `88. The Lp starts off with their, in my opinion strongest stuff ever the peel session - whirlwind hc with excellent timing and gruff vocals. Then follows a demo that documents the "Defiance Of Power" Lp but much more raw. Side 2 features a demo that was recorded 3 month's before (!) their famous Flexi 7". Three previously unreleased songs!
“Traumatized” is a masterpiece of political, anarchist punk from England. Originally released back in 1995. Named after a song of DOOM, in the line-up of the band you could also find DOOM-member John on guitar/vocals. Dark, massive and militant crust / hardcorepunk with very political and radical lyrics about consumerism, repression, control, race hate and the madnass of war. Classic D.I.Y.-punk ! After touring throughout the world, Dutch hardcore punk giants Vitamin X return with their first recorded output in 3 years. VX take their furious hardcore sound even further into the realms of 70's rock riffage and wild guitar solos, never letting up on the high energy thrash punk. A three track EP from Montreal’s After The Bombs. Once again, combine the best of classic DISCHARGE style punk and SACRILEGE era of thrashy punk, with lots of metal hooks and Jannick’s defiantly strong female vocals. Two full on fast ragers with blazing solos and a Bathory cover. Another solid release by this band. The cover was drawn by Rat Grinder a talented up an coming punk artist.

Australia's GREY DATURAS have built a solid following over the last few years through constant touring worldwide with artists like Neurosis, Wolf Eyes and Yellow Swans (having also released splits with the latter two). Their combination of Sonic Youth-style guitar-improv freakouts with more detuned doomed ambience and all out noise has attracted fans from all dank corners of underground music. France's female-fronted MONARCH is that country's entry into the slo-mo nihilistic utterly oppressive doom genre where they've distinguished themselves from their peers in both sound and aesthetics. On Dawn Of The Catalyst each band contributes one extended track, both veering to the more experimental, droning, lurching side of their collective personas. A split to be felt more than simply heard, it requires full volume and full bass frequencies for maximum effect.

The last Project Hopeless record was a bit of a disappointment with a very bad sound production, but as soon as I put this new album in my stereo, it was pure bliss and I rejoiced. The sound has been corrected and the snare drum has a nice tune to it! This is more the Project Hopeless I know and the sound treats them well. With their A//E political, d-beat flavoured raw punk and characteristic high and low pitched vocals, they bring us a whole new LP with 10 tracks with the purest form of Project Hopeless. ..."[Folkzine]

The Antigama/Nyia split CD features exclusive new songs recorded especially for the bands' Polish Mind Eaters Tour 2007. Nyia, the quintet from Olsztyn (Feto Records), features former members of legendary Kobong and Prophecy (Poland) and offers three complex escapades of chaotic yet precise grind/metal. Originally released back in 1997, the long out of print CD consisting of Dead Infection’s classic demos is available again. Crëvecoeur's songs are mostly instrumental pieces, a tribute to the glorious days of soundtrack music, yet with a pop sensibility. Definitely something for fans of Morricone soundtrack music, Calexico or Black Heart Procession. This release combines their two albums #1 and #2 in a nice gatefold cover double lp.

Listening to "...accidents happen so fast" , I can't help but wonder at how brilliant September Malevolence show would be. The two acts share a lot in common, but as both bands are within the post-rock genre, there's plenty of terrain to be explored without encroaching too terribly into another's territory. September Malevolence lean more towards an organic examination -- "A notion, I can't shake..." , which sets the scene for "...accidents happen so fast" , is almost entirely an acoustic number, lacking any of the post-rock beauty [...]

hailing from north somerset, uk. blueneck's music has developed into a cinematic soundscape of ambient atmospherics, dark skeletal rhythms,haunting vocals and swirling crescendos, all created with analogue synths, sparse piano and huge, soaring guitars. they operate in a similar post-rock territory to that of godspeed! you black emperor, sigur ros and mogwai. blueneck self-released this first full length album in 2006 after having spent a year and a half locked away recording in the hills of deepest somerset, having delivered a dark, dynamic masterpiece which puts the band truly in a class of their own. scars of the midwest is now finally available on vinyl.
