I've been trying to sign up for a sewing course and yer one is all like 'Is it for your girlfriend'.
In person, on the phone or on email? This morning I posed as my sister for about 20 mins to sort something out that she couldn't get to due to work.
Fair bit of flirting going on, even after mentioning my husband and child.

My sister in law did a welding course last year. She was the only female on this course. The only female ever to take the course in fact. The instructors took her aside and asked if she would prefer to have her lunch with the secretaries as the men use strong language like "root" (a welding term). I've lost count of the crazy but mostly hilarious sexist shit she had to put up with.
In the end she came top of her class and was awarded a much sought after place on a specialty welding course this year.

Neurosexism: the myth that men and women have different brains
The hunt for male and female distinctions inside the skull is a lesson in bad research practice, writes Lise Eliot.www.nature.com
Rippon’s central message is that “a gendered world will produce a gendered brain”. Her book stands with Angela Saini’s 2017 Inferior and Cordelia Fine’s 2010 Delusions of Gender in rooting out the “neurosexism” that has pervaded attempts to understand difference at the brain level. It’s a juicy history that would make for super-fun reading, if it were all truly in the past. Sadly, the moles keep surfacing. Rippon begins with an 1895 quote from social psychologist Gustave Le Bon, who used his portable cephalometer to declare that women “represent the most inferior forms of human evolution”. She ends in 2017, with Google engineer James Damore blogging to co-workers about “biological causes” for the dearth of women in tech and leadership roles.
@Cornu Ammonis you do brain science right? what make ye of this?
I'd imagine so, it's a thorny subject that would probably end with me getting cancelled if I was in the public eye.IIRC I have heard pro-trans advocates cite science regarding gendered brains, this could throw a spanner in there.
