Does anyone happen to know of any good second hand furniture shops in Dublin? I'm looking for 1920/30s fireside chairs, the condition doesn't really matter as I'll reupholster it anyway.

have you tried http://dublinwaste.ie/index.html

or the oxfam furniture store on francis st.

or these guys http://www.wildchildoriginals.com/ I gather they have a big warehouse open on saturdays, haven't got a chance to look at it yet.

Or there's a very nice place on cows lane where I got a nice swivelly eames chair at a decent price, and other stuff seemed very reasonable. Can't remember the name but it's on the right if turning onto cows lane from Dame st.

There's a new-ish place on Bridgefoot Street (near the corner of Thomas St) which sells restored vintage furniture. I've seen some lovely suites in there. I can't remember what it's called right now.

2cooldesign? Or that could be a place that's gone now. Anyway the woman who owns the shop I think your talking about is really nice ime.

Might be a bit far out but look out for auctions around country areas, by parents buy a lot of Victorian furniture and it seems to have dropped severly in price over the past few years due to lack of demand.

This is nearly the case with all the furniture being sold at the ones they go to.

They mainly buy from here.. http://www.propertyfile.net/990/
He's an estate agent as well, but i'm sure if you got in contact he would send you up a brochure and tell you if he has any items you might be interested in. Bid over the phone or put down your bid before the sale takes place, last auction he had some lovely marble art deco objects.

Thanks for all the suggestions, i'll check them out. just got a 1920s 3seater, the back gets pushed down to make a bed, it looks cool but smells funky

Theres a skip at my work full of stuff. Can't find a link to it.

Try the antique shops in Francis st or the monthly antiques fair in Clontarf Castle - just because they are antiques doesn't mean they will be expensive. You could also try the St Vincent de Paul furniture depot.

I think the St. Vincent De Paul have a furniture depot in Drogheda. I know you can ring them up when you're looking for a specific item and they'll call you if they get it in.
