dunno, whatever one cam with the dell laptop, probably a cheap ass one. whats the importance of the soundcard anyways? is a good one essential?

yeah, if it's a rubbish sound card it won't matter how good the speakers are, it'll still sound poor. you can buy decent laptop soundcards though, something like

do i still need a sound card? wouldn't all laptops come with a sound card anyways?

check out your laptop model and see what sound card is in it, maybe it's an ok one. the generic ones tend to be rough though.
