tried to check this out again having not heard it in years, still reckon its pretty bad.one before it is much better.

i didnt really like Daudi Baldrs - Hlidskajaelf was a better album imo.

the second half of Filosofem and some of Hvis Lyset Tar Os is also very ambient.
you could make a pretty decent compilation out of Burzums ambient work

my faves of this sort of thing - in agreement with everyone else:

aphex twin - ambient works 2
windy and carl - antartica
stars of the lid - the ballasted orchestra
flying saucer attack / tele:funken - distant station

also while i love bardo pond, i agree with most here that it's a bit too noisy to really fit this category. however, the stuff by the spin off project with roy montgomery, "hash jar tempo", is very chilled. i like their "well oiled" album.

Those Sakamoto/Alvo Noto albums
Jan Jelinek
Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians
Rachel's
Greg Davis
Amiina

filosofem is probably my favourite of all the albums.works a lot better than the two after in terms of atmospohere as well i reckon.
was just suprsied after thinking hlidskajaelf was a bit of a stinker when i was a teenager, thought opinion might have changed with age,but nope.

after ignoring stars of the lid for a long time, will check em today.

I would also rate Filosofem as his best because much of harsher drumming from earlier albums is gone. it's pretty polished for burzum but still has a great black metal feel to it.

for Stars of the Lid my favourites are:
Tired Sounds
Avec Laundenum

talkdemonic have a good album or two.

be sure to check out eno's apollo atmosoheres & soundtracks too. has the tune from 28 days later on it.

also, i think ive been hear long enough not to be ashamed about plugs but half of what i do is ambient stuff.
please feel free to check out 'the hakkoda ship' here

and also my ambient stuff
