I don't think I've ever had such a visceral negative reaction to an album as when I first listened to Campfire Songs, I have vague memories of telling my stereo to fuck off.
I almost bludgeoned a stereo to death to make it stop playing Those cunts, and once left a party without being asked to because someone played one of their tunes. Yeah, it was that bad.

The Breeders:

Pod: 9

The Last Splash: 8.5

The Amps : 7

Title TK: 7.5

Mountain Battles: 8

I had a big thing written up about how The Last Splash is weirdly underrated by MUSIC FANS but to hell with it.

I'd go along with that, but maybe give Mountain Battles a 7.

The Last Splash IS great, but a bit too shiny/glossy in parts. I love the low-fi production on the other albums. Kim Deal is best when she drawls.

Somebody do Throwing Muses. I only have 3

1989: Hunkpapa: 7.5
1991: The Real Ramona: 9
1992: Red Heaven: 8

I can do this

Throwing Muses

Throwing Muses: 9
House Tornado: 10
Hunkpapa: 8
The Real Ramona: 8
Red Heaven: 7
University: 6
Limbo: 8
Uses: 6

probably somewhat contrary of me as a lot of people love University and House Tornado is quite inaccessible at first.

Belly
1993: Star: 9
1995: King: 6

All Tanya Donnelly's solo efforts: 5
She lost her muse pretty quickly

I actually think King might be a better album than Star. I like the shimmery-ness of Star alright but I feel like some of the songs are just lacking and weak. I think King is more solid overall, if a bit more straightforward. I've only heard one of her solo albums and wasn't especially impressed but i'll get to them at some point...

Fair play John.
House Tornado huh? Must investigate.

I love Star - for its shimmery-ness (great word!) and magical qualities. Loved the production and the way the songs were all oddly structured and of different length. King was too rocky and normal sounding for me.

it comes on CD with a copy of the Fat Skier EP

which is probably their best release ever!

ah yeah, they're both good albums sure

I'd give Red Heaven a 9 and favor Star over King too. I'd also give Hips and Makers a 9 to round the whole thing out.

Listen to The Last Splash again. It's actually pretty lo fi.
Sloan, the double cross is great. I'd rate Never... much higher.
AC DC, guys, I already did them.

Pearl Jam

Ten - 8
Vs - 9
Vitalogy - 6.5
No Code - 8.5
Binaural - 5.5
Riot Act - 6.5
Yield - 9
Pearl Jam/Avocado - 6
Backspacer - 5.5

I am very biased towards them, first band i really got into and first gig - no code tour 96

In retrospect House Tornado is probably a 9 or 8.5, I think I was just getting excited about my favourite album by them : /
