yeah but not alot of cheap apartments near the venue left! that and my wallet and friends have chosen an hostel. we had an apartment last year and needless to say i had to organise alot of it (with help from Moose after i missed flight!)if you're heading over with a gang or if you have the option
of hooking up with some people, you can look into hiring an
apartment. although it's more hassle than a hostel... having
said that I did this twice; once in poble nou, a nice
residential area with lots of amenities (supermarkets and
beer!) about three or four metro stops west, and the second
we stayed about 15 mins walk up the diagonal, the massive
diagonal street which starts at the venue and runs all the
way through the city to the north west. the apartments were nice.
the first was amazing actually.
staying close to the festival rocked. plus the days can be long; heading
back home to eat something decent and cheap from the supermarket
and get mangled on a couple of bottles of freixenet is always a good
way to break up the day's proceedings. I stayed with people I knew
up near la sagrada familia in '06 and it kind of sucked being so
relatively far from the action.
of course getting the heads, funds and a deposit together
are a bit of a pain, not to mention actually looking for a
place. you get a LOT of hits if you google for barcelona
apartments.
yeah, hostel's probably easier. unless there are a few
thumped mofos heading who'd be interested in a plan...
can't wait for the next two months to fuck off so I can be in spain already!
staying in an apartment within walking distance to festival i think/just a few stops away on metro. i didnt organise it but ive seen pictures...looks nice and works out cheap enough.
www.habitatapartments.com Highly recommended, I've stayed with them 3/4 times. If I was going myself, I'd be keeping it to myself so you guys didn't book all the good ones.
