What do you lot reckon?

I'm listening to the last album, Space Gun, and it's growing on me. The title track is a cracker. It's a real Doug Gillard record - which isn't a bad thing - Mag Earwhig! is brilliant.

I wasn't mad about the first few "new" GBV albums, I think "Class Clown Spots a UFO" was the last one I listened to. They've been firing them out at a rate of knots the last few years (Just had a look there - 10 since the reformation, and another 3 planned for next year?! Jaysus)... must give that new one a listen.

Agreed about Mag Earwhig! alright. End of the golden era for me though!

Isolation Drills is a cracking album. Earthquake Glue is also another great post-Mag Earwhig! album (it has My Kind of Soldier and the Best of Jill Hives).

It seems to me Pollard is settled with the new line-up - so I reckon they'll be churning out tonnes of albums over the next few years. They're doing loads of gigs at the moment - unfortunately just in the US.

I hope they play in Dublin - or in Europe. Or I might just have to fly to the US.

I embarked on a little GBV listening project a while back. I'd say I'm a fan but I'd heard relatively few of the albums (still more albums than most bands managed) so I started from the beginning and began working my way through it. However when I got to the first suitcase comp I saw the tracklist and went "100 songs, gah" and stopped, must try to get back on it.

Tim Heidecker ruined GBV for me, as he absolutely nailed it:

I saw them earlier in the year and they were good, but play for way too long.

Can someone reckon an album by these guys for me to check out?

Probably best to go for the Best Of - Human Amusements At Hourly Rates.

Beyond that if you want scratchy lo-fi weirdness try Alien Lanes , Propellor or Bee Thousand. If you want slick rock action go for Mag Earwig or Isolation Drills.

Beyond that - well now you've fallen down the rabbit hole.

I just listened to August By Cake ...some great moments!

I'll try a couple of your suggestions next!

Max Earwig is a belter,I listened to it last night. Will be played again for sure

I liked the songs Tim Heidecjer was making up

I am LOVING this outfit!

I've listened to Mag Earhweg a bunch of times and this evening played and totally dug Do The Collapse

What other albums have got the big productions?

You may like Isolation Drills

You’ve reached musical Eldorado
Sure there are lots of great bands, but none better than Guided By Voices
