This is a thread for posting up stuff you:

* Have brought to a picnic and found kept really well and was a smart idea
* Have brought to a picnic and found that it was a big mistake
* Would like to eat at a picnic
* Have eaten at a picnic.

Apart from the obvious sandwiches, thing, obviously.

After all, it is now picnic season. For, like, the next week. Until the Leaving is over, anyway.

I made a sort of Spanish omelette thingy when we went to Ireland's (Brown) Eye last summer, and it was a good idea. Keeps well, and still tastes good when it's not hot anymore.

I'll think of more. Oh, and I pretty much always bake cookies, as I am under orders to do so.

sandridges with crips in them are vital too

You're not wrong Dudders McGrudders. That's the food of deities.
A couple of white rolls and some King.

Also- assorted cheeses and corresponding fruits, and a package o water biskits.

Blue cheese and grapes
Smoked Gouda and strawberries (I stole this off Kirstie)
cheddar and apple
Brie and apple/berries/anything

big tub o' hummous. tub of [strike]crudei[/strike] [strike]cruide[/strike] [strike]crudite[/strike] sliced up carrots and cucumbers and whatnot - or breadsticks.

eh.. thumbs up now.. what's this then? never seen this before...

show me potato salad!

baby potatos halved, with scallions and hazelnuts. Paprika, salt and pepper in your mayonaise mix.

Yes, yes.

are you going on a boyz only picnic? will the cupcakes be booby shaped?

It's a BBQ actually, but I'll do some salady stuff alright. It's a free for all but the meats will be suitably phallic of course.

leftovers could well make an appearance at a Sunday picnic mind...

panzanella! tomatoes, onions, herbs, stale bread, olives and cucumber, or whatever the hell else you have, and an olive oil/red wine vinegar dressing. a few hours between preparation and eating makes it much tastier.

and oranges, with lots of tissues or baby wipes or something for the aftermath.

I went to the butcher at lunch and bought many many chicken kebab things and a kilo and a half of ribs. The waft of garlic that is currently coming out from under my desk is dizzying.
