photoshop help (1 Viewer)

i really should know how to do this but ive just wasted an hour trying so obviously dont.

basically im trying to convert a photo to look like the ones in the picture below..
i guess theyre made up completley of blacks and i need the bits that would have been white to fade seemlesly into a background colour just like the ones below.
any help or even link to a tutorial that could help me out would be great

desaturate the image then set the layer to overlay or multiply on the blue background. I think that's what you're trying to achieve.

...or you could use the free Irfanview to reduce to 2 colours and then tint to blue.
just my 2 cents for a variation on the above.

if it's for screen there are tons of different ways of doing it.

its for print...the colour overlay worked fine though.
