I reckon I'll vote yes coz I met too many cool people who should be allowed get into these parts but cant. (I know expansion still possible blah blah... not really). Also what neutality do we have left now anyways. Also all our trade agreements are already ratified though the EU, so that point is stupid.
But then again I fuckin hate the EU and it's stupid elitist bollocks and who knows, it could be the worst treaty ever if the eastern countries end up swarmed with multinationals, but wont that happen anyways....

I think the Nice treaty should become I rish slang for not knowing what the fuck your talking about or being confused. For insatnce your in a bar and you overhear some guy talking total shit about something you think he knows nothing about you say "Man that guy is talking Nice". It's not cool to vote either Yes or No but each person should read and try to find what is really relevant to them and the country in their eyes before they vote. Don't let some guy talkin Nice influence your vote. I on the other hand will vote total anialation

its a bit late to be debaing this now and all, seeing as voting will be over tonight... but seeing as i'm just about to put on my clothes and cycle down to the polling station ...

i, too, was unsure of which way to vote and i wasnt going to bother until i started thinking about it last week. a yes vote does seem to carry some weight if you are thinking compassionately about those future member states that we would be delaying entry to with a no vote. and, of course, optimists point to the fact that numerous contries who have previously been at war with each other will now be bound together socially, economically and politically.

however, then i started to consider that the effects of a rapid influx of wealth and prosperity into these new member states would probably have a similar effect as the "celtic tiger" had on our shithole: the rich and middle classes get richer, everything gets much more expensive and very minor improvements are made to our health and education services. meanwhile the entire country is being held by the balls by a handful of multinationals who could ruin the nation in the space of a week if we did anything serious to annoy them.
this, i am afraid, will be the situation in czech, latvia, slovenia, whereever.

why do you think the EU wants these new countries in? to shower them with cash in the history's greatest ever display of philanthropy? No, to create an enormous new market of eager buyers for the companies that control the EU.

and that's why i'm voting no.

my consituancy had the second highest yes vote, it seems. so, my vote didnt make a fuck of a difference, but the mere sight of those lovely new mechanic facilitators of democracy made the trip worth while.

still, strange how so many managed to re-think their point of view in the space of a year and a half...
