New York Fuckin' City Maaaaan (3 Viewers)

Actually, for photography, it's a gold mine. I just thought that if you were expecting some kind of funfair excitement, you would be very disappointed.
Oh yeah, no totally, there will be no one there at all.

Walking around on a miserable day, gray skies, dripping shop fronts, beach and sea in the background, the odd drug dealer, its just begging for morning after the night before shots.

A film set is the only way I can describe it. From a fucked up David Lynch film.

oo that sounds nice. tanx guys.

yeah it is. The train follows the Hudson valley for miles, all through mountains and everything, all the way up.
And it rattles along at a nice speed too. Comforting :)

I am not actually sure where its going though, but its cool. On the way out there it runs down the side of Manhattan too, so you see all the Jersey Palisades too.

i remember walking over the brooklyn bridge a few shorts weeks after 9/11, there were still flames and smoke pouring into the sky, and that smell....there were 3 of us walking across and none of us could speak, utterly overwhelming....

anyways

If you need to chill out for a coffee and or use the net go to Alt.Coffee, 137 Ave A (Cross Street: Between St. Mark's Place and 9th Street)

Nice place, good coffee. The anti Starbucks.

Joe's just off Sixth and Waverly is cool too. Ditto re wireless and anti starfucks.

I would'nt be going to Cony Island for the funfare, but deffo for the B/W photo op's
Sides, news is some NY artists have been comissioned to do murals there to bring back interest in the floundering area. Some of which I'd really like to see.

I like bleak.

Hay, just because I don't eat dead animals, dose'nt mean I dont like to see their carcases in staged various flattering poses!
Side's is'nt that where Holden saw the grafitti in Catcher In The Rye? (Or was that the school? He was a little obsessed about an indian woman there... must re-read that)
Deffo be going there...

Cheers for all the help/advice guys... Makes me wonder will 7 days be enough to take it all in?!?

What annoys me is that there dose'nt seem to be any giude books for Brooklyn, Queens etc... All I've seen are just for Manhattan...
Like are Cony Island or Brighton Beach worth visiting?

have a look for a book called not for tourists new york, most book shops and museum shops like moma etc will have it.. shows ya kinda off the beaten track stuff, our new york acquaintances recommended it.

If you're still looking for countryside, you should go to Westchester County, gape at the Hudson and visit Sleepy Hollow. Fun.
yeah i still haven't been to the country.. yesterday the rain in the morning precluded that and then i got distracted by shiny things. hopefully i'll get out before tuesday.
also i got you a book, because you look like you don't have enough of them.

apparently i am going backstage at the scissor sisters gig tonight. i will try not to punch anyone in the face.

I hope you went with your gut on this one. Small people punching things is funny. Also, the lead singer has had it coming.
