This is very much not my thing. But at the same time I think the fact that it exists is great

I've been following the dream eaters for a few weeks - these ones are living in insta/tiktok as the format in the same sense that bands lived in singles and albums as format way back when.
Like wee viral skits like this
anywhoo they have 'legit' full lenght tunes too
anwhoo meanwhile this came up on youtube to me is somewhere in the same region stylistically
In fairness that's true of a huge amount of music.Same thing over and over, 50+ years after
My point is that this is the most artistically narrow sub-genre of all. I think many of the others have evolved and expanded enormously. In fairness that's true of a huge amount of music.
Free improvisation, punk, ambient, atonal modern composition, disco, funk, turntable-ism, rap.... I could go on. All over 50 years old but still great when done well.
There loads of bands that worship the Ramones, Joy Division, Eno, Stooges, Velvets. Not to mention Sonic Youth, Husker Du etc.My point is that this is the most artistically narrow sub-genre of all. I think many of the others have evolved and expanded enormously.
I thought your 2am post was funny. My point is that this is the most artistically narrow sub-genre of all. I think many of the others have evolved and expanded enormously.
Mansplainer would be a good name for a bandThere loads of bands that worship the Ramones, Joy Division, Eno, Stooges, Velvets. Not to mention Sonic Youth, Husker Du etc.
Not saying you are wrong about doom metal but lack of originality is not unique.
Cathedral's first album is very original for a 90's record. Current band Acid Witch have a nice 1970's /80's horror feel.
Sabbath were a big inspiration for Melvins, Earth, Sunno))) when those inspired by Velvets ran out ideas.
Glad to hear! I dont know the band, they are no doubt very interesting, I was just responding to the style of that full song and the types of bands who only do thatI thought your 2am post was funny.
These guys are more electro pop with 80s ideas than Sabbath to me
What I find interesting is they are writing a lot for short vertical video platforms, where acts are largely still writing for radio/playlist environments.
Punk wins for being narrow every time hands down.
