Middle aged pleasures (4 Viewers)

Was I telling ye about the planning thing across the road from us? There was a half-burned down house there for a few years, someone bought it and got planning to knock it and build a different house set back from the road

That was fair enough, nobody objected.

Then he half-knocked the house, and extended it into a bigger house instead, and in the process blocked up a stream that flows under the house which backed up field drains in every direction - there was even water flowing across the road, and a big flood outside the house itself. And then it turned out the extended house was split up into flats. So we all objected, and he applied for retention, and failed to follow up on questions the council had, so now the place has no planning permission

It was all made possible by the fact that he paid for everything in cash - normally this kind of planning thing is effectively enforced by the banks, who won't you let you draw down the mortgage without signoff from the council. And the reason he's paying for everything in cash? He's a criminal, as we found out when the place was raided by the guards and CAB. Lot of drama for a crossroads 6km from the nearest village

This country should be absolutely plastered in solar panels and wind farms. We were in wales a couple of weeks ago and the scale of the offshore wind infrastructure around Llandudno is just incredible.

Was just over in Holy Island in Angelsey at the weekend and they're all yapping away in Welsh to each other. The language is everywhere.

We can learn a lot from them I reckon
