... (haven't heard the heemann collab but ...) i'd also recommend amlux (probably my favourite merzbow) and sphere. 1930, a taste of merzbow and merzbuddha are decent enough too. didn't really like merzbuddha at first (first impressions: promised a lot and only delivered some noise + lazy beats) but it really grew on me after a few listens. sun baked snow cave - the boris collab from last year - is pretty cool too. also, the two o))) bow tracks on sunn o)))'s flight of the behemoth are amazing. the new john wiese collab looks interesting too.Brian Conniffe said:to be honest, the only merzbow albums that you need (if that kind of thing is your bag) are "dharma" and "sleeper awakes on the edge of abyss" (with christoph heemann). the latter sounds nothing like merzbow, its a really spaceous peaceful album (like the more washed out parts of aphex twin's ambient works 2). the former is the best album merzbow has done. it is noise, and pretty full on, but unlike most of his other releases, its quite varied and very well constructed. the first track off it - "i'm coming to the garden..." - is his finest moment of noise, and achieves more successfully in five minutes than what the entire merzbox fails to do in about 60 hours.
deadly ... cheers brian (i have dharma already ... probably my 2nd favourite merzbow after amlux)Brian Conniffe said:it's still available. dd, i'll send you copies of the heemann collab and "dharma". they are pretty awesome.
