Las Vegas (1 Viewer)

Yes, there's a few and they're great. also for 100 dollars or so there's tours of the grand canyon. Also the M and M's museum, live music every night and an unbelievable amount of hookers. You know how american cities have those newspaper dispenser things? Well las vegas has hooker magazine dispensers.

eh, but if you're not gonna gamble you probably shouldn't go

Is there anything to do except gamble and look at the flashing lights?

I'm stuck there all next week on my lonesome.

Gambling is best avoided, but looking at the flashing lights will take a couple of days walking the strip. You'll get used to ignoring the 'clickers'...

You'll find plenty to keep you occupied.

keep an eye out for:

The Stratosphere rollercoasters (the highest in the world)
The Star Trek experience at The Hilton well worth the money.
A trip up the Eifel Tower at Paris for a good view of the strip
The pool at the Mandalay Bay if you're into that sort of thing
Fremont street experience is well worth a visit, but don't walk there & don't wander too far from the touristy area...

A trip to the Grand Canyon is expensive by helicopter & very long by bus.
You could hire a car & drive to Death Valley & you get to drive through Pahrump, Nevada which is of interest to Studio 60 fans.

If you're into shopping then there's a fairly big outlet place just outside of town & there's the Fashion Show mall, plus the casinos all have their own shopping malls.

Shows-wise, just make sure you go see Penn & Teller at the Rio. we went last christmas day and it was great. too bad it's not november http://www.thecomedyfestival.com/

i'll think of more.

The Stratosphere rollercoasters (the highest in the world)

However, it is like a kiddie rollercoaster because of the height. Not that scary or exhilarating and hard to see anything. They have one of those semi-free fall drop rides up there too. It's much better and has a great view.

The Speed ride is the mentalist thing i've ever been on, 10 quid for about as many seconds, but you're all out of balance for 5-10 minutes afterwards

The Atomic Bomb Museum was interesting.
Best strip club was Spearmint Rhino.
Stay away from Circus Circus, it's shit.
Went for a skydive which picks up opposite the Luxor. $200 for skydive is cheap as chips but it does take a half-day. Best thing I've ever done. www.skydivelasvegas.com
Blue Man Group in the Venetiuan was outstanding.
House of Blues always have some great shows too.
Top of the Stratosphere at night on the rides with a few drinks in ya will is good craic too. My ears popped going up to the top of the thing in the lift.
In'n'out Burger!!
Pussycat Dolls show in Ceasers Palace was fun and free in for women.
Double Down Saloon is a 24hr punk/dive bar near the Hard Rock Cafe that taxi drivers and strippers drink at which was cool. Get the ass juice.
Spent 5 hours in the outlet mall outside of town and bought a rake of stuff for cheap.

Vegas is mad.

have ya had a chance to do any travellin since ya got there aron?

I hated Vegas, I'd get a prostitute

not too much. i made it to chicago and new york for weekend trips and then penn state and now las vegas for conferences. lots of air miles saved up, so i'll try and go towards portland and seattle soon for a gander. i'd love to take the train around to see smaller places, but it's mad expensive and very slow.

You don't have to spend mad bucks when gambling in 'the Vegas'.

My friends and I spent 5 nights there this summer with full intentions of cleaning the place out. After about 15 minutes of blackjack we had each lost $60 (it was a lot to us) and so, taking advice from a kind old man, we stuck to penny slots. Just sit at the slot machine and put a dollar in and you'll have free drink brought to you all night- good stuff too.

Plus I was unbelievably lucky at them and ended up winning approx. over $100.

Apart from that I didn't get up to much in LV. They've a pretty cool shopping centre thats really good value if thats up your alley.

DO NOT go to the Hard Rock Casino Hotel - it is a massive waste of time (although they did have one of John Frusciante's guitars on show).
