To mark the rare "blue moon" of 31st July, we present a very special evening in celebration of the Moon!

Taking place in the spectacular Freemasons' Hall on Molesworth Sreet., Dublin 2, expect wonderful live music, inspiring talks from astronomers and science experts, fantastic short films, telescope workshops in the courtyard, and a free drinks reception.

MUSIC:
Cian Nugent & The Cosmos
We're thrilled to have one of Ireland's most awe-inspiringly talented live bands on the bill for Once In A Blue Moon. Cian Nugent & The Cosmos are the full electric band with lead man Cian Nugent alongside David Lacey, Conor Lumsden and Brendan Jenkinson. Cian describes their wandering style as "inspired by the eternal flow of transnational desert blues, psychedelic thoughts on rock, feeling fine and jazz ambitions."

The Imogen Gunner Trio
We're over the moon that acclaimed and award-winning fiddle player, singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Imogen Gunner is one of the wonderful music acts playing at Once In A Blue Moon. Alongside guest musicians, Imogen will perform a special set of songs inspired by the evening's theme.

TALKS:
Astronomers, writers and broadcasters will present entertaining and enlightening talks on science and astronomy. Speakers include:
* Astronomy Ireland Chairperson, David Moore (“Ireland's Most Famous Astronomer”)
* Best-selling science author and award-winning RTE broadcaster Sean Duke
* John Flannery of the Irish Astronomical Society

SHORT FILMS:
Premiere screenings of short films from Ireland and the UK, and a screening of a beautiful animation from USA. All related to and inspired by the Moon.

BLUE MOON BODEGA & TELESCOPE WORKSHOPS:
We're transforming a floor of the Freemasons Hall into a a spacey speakeasy for the night. The Irish Astronomical Society will present demonstrations of high-powered telescopes in the adjacent courtyard, and there'll also be a science & astronomy pop-up shop. Oh, and your first drink is on us!
