He basically wrote off everyone, and said Franz ferdinand were the most amazing band in ages.

yeah, so he's intitled to his opinion, but its a little lame to write off every band in dublin and brand them all moaning "scenesters". There are tons of shit bands in and around dublin, no shit, but i'm sure its the same in the glasgow or wherever FF are from...

Irish journalists get very upset when bands that they initially champion turn out to be happy enough to play and release records locally.
They very quickly turn on people who don't go for it abroad.
I guess they don't see selling 1000 CD's in Ireland and selling out Whelans as being enough of a success.

This is classic stuff. Whenever in a conversation with people who say "all irish bands are crap" etc. Just say "yea i suppose, but the dudley corporation are really good though" and wait for the "oh, I've never heard of them"
