Pearce was dropped by Reading around the time of the Oman game and has yet to win his place back. He's barely kicked a ball in the last month or so. Although a lack of game time doesn't seem to have harmed the chances of a number of other players.

So it turns out that Pearce has been frozen out of the team over an ongoing contract dispute. That makes sense.
