It's easy to get frustrated with him because so many of his runs end up with a cross that hits the first man or a tame shot that goes wide but we have so few players who are actually willing to take the risk and try to create something. At the very least his dribbling ability makes him a decoy that drags a few extra men out to his side of the pitch and makes space elsewhere.

He had more of the ball than any other Irish player and fair enough he produced one decent pass through for Keane, that was it the sum total of a night where he had the ball at his feet in dangerous positions against amateurs. When he tries all this shit against Zhirkov he's going to look like a fucking prick. Lawerence put in dangerous crosses all night took the corner for the goal and played a really nice ball for Doyle for the would be penalty he didn't need 50 fucking touches before he releases the ball. Look I'm stopping this before I seem any more like a ranting maniac than I already do. In fact I'm repeating myself.

Dunno. I remember as a kid reading something in Match or Shoot in the mid-90s along the lines that he'd declared for Ireland and a call-up was expected (by him probably).
