ipod/mp3 speakers/speaker dock (1 Viewer)

thinking of getting one of these - can anyone recommend any particular type/brand?
spotted a few on ebay.
how good are they?

oh ok. it was €150. I suppose it was a bit extravagant. Still it's great, charges the ipod, has a remote control, can be used as an alarm (using the alarm on the ipod), it has another audio-in so is good for watching stuff on the laptop in bed without using the crappy laptop speakers and it has a video-out feature. For watching your video and pics on a tv.

However, people are always chucking out old PC speakers, they do the job.

Hmm well €150 doesn't seem soooo bad i guess...tbh i haven't really figured out how much i wanna spend. i know nothing about these things and how much they go from/to.
Did you buy online or in real world shop?

I wish someone would make one that looks like a tape player, has a slot where you can put in the ipod and choose the songs from somewhere on the player

they always look so fragile with the ipod sticking up like that

I think it looks cool stood up like that; but i think it plays lying flat as well.

Yeah i agree, its kind of like a car with the enigine held on the front by the exhaust pipe.

Just got one of these. Sounds great.

Going to look into sending this back. Only bought it in August and it's usually played at low volume but already it distorts when played louder. Like the speakers are going in it.
A friend of mine has had the BOSE one for ages and it sounds excellent still.
I checked out the T&Cs on the applestore and I reckon I can send it back.

whats the advantage of a "dock"?

I just plug a minjack to them red and white audio plugs cable and stick it thru the aux input of my amp

I could be wrong but i think the sound quality is better/louder thru the dock. The normal ear phones input seems to be lower when put thru speakers and if you turn it up you start to get a hissing. While the dock sound is perfect at every level... couldve just been my ipod tho

I had the iPod dock that came with my older iPod that you could plug the red/white cables from and it would charge your iPod too. And it was tiny.

Worked for ages, until one night it overheated and melted the iPod in it. Thankfully, it wasn't my iPod.

Now it seems that it only charges the fucking phone and doesn't play audio.

Is anyone aware of an adapter that will allow me to connect a Droid to an iPhone dock?
