With the closure of Sentinel Records in the summer of 2010 it seemed to look incredibly grim for a rock/metal retail outlet to exist in a city literally built on the illusion of property speculation. In 2011 we have turned that concept around entirely. Enter Into The Void Records. After much discussion and consultation between the already established record labels in the Irish metal scene and two emergent labels it became apparent that collaborating under one umbrella was essential to making a record store work for us all in the city. Invictus, Sentinel, Underground Movement and the nascent Sarlacc Productions and Blind Men & Occult Forces have united to facilitate the opening of this new store.

Into The Void Records is a specialist, independent rock/metal/punk/alternative music store situated on Whitefriar Street, Dublin 8. It is 5 minutes walk from Stephen’s Green Luas stop and behind the Avalon House Hostel on Aungier Street. Opening hours will be 11am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm to 6pm on Sundays.

Not only will Into The Void facilitate in providing the best in underground music but we are also delighted to announce that we will work in partnership with The Devil’s Den tattoo shop, which will be situated on the same premises and will be run by Rob from Vomitor and his colleague Kev Carrick making the store a unique combination of metal and tattoos.

The opening date is scheduled for mid February and we are planning on having an opening party on February 28th with selected bands playing. We look forward to seeing you darken our doorsteps in the very near future!

The Music section of the store opens this Friday at 11pm, so call in for a peep, the art gallery will follow in a couple of weeks (more info on that to follow)

Again this is for everyone in the scene (Punk & Metal), so if ya have any hair brain ideas that could better the place please post 'em

deadly good luck with this ian!

Sorry, yeah 11am start, but yeah one of the main things I think can make the shop stand out from anything else on the Island is a killer second hand section, so here is where the fiends of Eirecore can help, if you have anything CD's, LP's, T-Shirts whatever your looking to get rid of then please drop down with your stuff, and we'll find a new home for them (one man's junk) and we're recycling while we're at it, I'm also looking into doing a small market in the basement room maybe every second Sunday, where people can bring along there second hand stuff to sell, but I need work out exactly how to go about it, again all these ideas are up in the air at the moment, but like I said we want it to be more than just a music shop, but a hub of influence from all corners of the Underground, run by the fans for the fans, I also think listening parties for new albums are in the pipeline too, there is a list of ideas the length of my arm but keep them coming.

Enough room for the odd gig?

Looking into it, but it may have to be an acoustic session as there is an apartment above the store and I think it a family with kids!!

There will be a small interview about the store on the Tom Dunne show this Friday around 10/10.30 Newstalk 106
