Had a weird encounter in Berlin last summer.
Was sitting outside our hostel having an early morning snout when I got talking to this guy who used to promote rock bands in Germany in the 60s and 70s. He toured with Deep Purple and the like and was telling me all these tales of excess and general deviancy.
This prompted me to ask him (expecting some rock act as the answer): "What was the craziest band you ever travelled around with?"
He replied, shaking his head ruefully, and without any hesitation: "The Monks. Those guys were totally fucked up..."
