10/10 Finally, the anti-Lilly Allen, the hipster chansonnier, a lover’s ultimate revenge disguised in Gainsbourg cool. You’ll kill her? As provocative as it is adorable, Soko’s violently bittersweet manifest towards the boy who “broke” her dreams is a playful mix of mumbles and croons atop an equally unstable guitar line. Most of the song’s charm lies in its seemingly spontaneous invention; like she told her companion to hit record, because she’s got some serious shit to get off her chest. Pure fucking brilliance.

2/10 In which SoKo wishes death on the girl who has stolen away her beautiful future, 2.4 children and so on by inconveniently being with her dream guy. It has potential as a set up. Problem is, we never get even a hint of why she cares so much, which leaves a weirdly gaping hollow in the song that neither the humour nor singing are nearly good enough to fill.

is she part of this whole 'french bands who can't play their instruments but are hot and 16' thing the Sunday Times is loving right now?
