!bing !bing Thumped the magazine!!

I was thinkin about this the other day too. It'd totally work. 300-odd contributing writers, A ready to access archive of info, 7 years in the making. It could be fantastic.

fuck that. it'd be like a school year book put together by teh class swots.

Since I'm not a music journo, I've got a pretty idealised view of the job, but if the mag is shit its an editorial issue innit? The journalists don't make decisions on what goes into the mag like.

As for Thumped the magazine, hot press consists mostly of press blurbs and that, as in, someone like me writing something for a mates band that involves mentioning their "eclectic sound" etc:rolleyes:. When you show those things to people, they read it and go "wow, hot press said some nice things about that band!" No, they didn't, HP copied and pasted those nice things.
So why not cut out the middleman? There's not much else in HP, besides the blurbs (or whatever you wanna call them).

Other than that, Thumped and HP both serve more or less the same purpose, a resource for information and opinions on mainly music and all the related aspects of life in general.

As for reviews, they're still there, it's just that people post on the general forum saying "that gig was deadly" don't they?

Fair fucks to Leagues and co for sticking their necks on the line and going for it. But that mag is still run on a seriously tight budget and only keeping a handful of people in fully paid employment.

yeah i heard they pay their writers really well.....

May I direct your attention to the very dead Reviews Forum?

My post was made in a sarcastic manner. Hence the confused icon under seanc's "it would totally work" post.

I was under the impression that the reviews forum was just locked and that any reviews had to be sent to the moderators before they were posted.

and to know whether or not the reviewer preferred their earlier, more experimental stuff. Or "they're no Slayer" &c.
