half yearly best of lists creeping out now... (1 Viewer)

I'd only have three so far:

Biggles Flys Again -- Remember Saturday
Wild Nothing -- Empty Estate
John Grant -- Pale Green Ghosts

ETA: I should get that Vampire Weekend record because I still haven't listened to it. Oh also Johnny Marr. That might make it five.

So far

Ducktails - The Flower Lane
Widowspeak - Almanac
Phoenix - Bankrupt
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Mosquito
Solar Bears - Supermigration
Umberto - Confrontations

For me
Marnie Stern - the chronicles of Marnia
Steve Mason - monkey minds in the devils time
mogwai - Les revenants
low - the invisible way
besnard lakes -until in excess, imperceptible UFO.

Okay so in all honesty albums I have liked a lot this year so far:

Born Ruffians - Birthmarks
Hospital Ships - Destruction in Yr Soul
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Push the Sky Away
Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires in the City

and that's it I think?

Still listening and catching up with a lot of 2012 stuff though and sure the next Ginnels album is only a few days away!

Their singer even looks like Ian Curtis, well like Sam Riley in Control anyway.

look at them there now, sure they'd make a lovely couple.

Edit: For some reason I find it very hard to trust anyone with a lot of jewellery. Unless they're into hip hop and make a point of banging on about their jewellery.

Holy shit I thought that review was finished at the first video. No fucking way am I reading that. Never heard the band, probable never will but holy fuck that's some chip on his shoulder.
"we criticise because we care" - the site actually uses that tagline.

Yermans a savage for the auld writing by the looks of it

I'm nearly all the way through Savages, I can only say that as a huge fan of post punk / goth between the years 1979-1985 it's an album I "should" like. It's perfectly acceptable Googlerock. Sounds like something you "should" like and will come up in your "suggestions" when you play stuff from 30 years ago without sounding out of place.

Yeah, I said it I've coined it Googlerock.

I think I wrote a long (very long) diatribe about Yuck which was along the same lines of what this lad is saying about Savages.

To be fair Savages sound like they are no craic whatsoever though.
