Great Drum Sound Thread (1 Viewer)

Inner terrestrials album "X" a combination of beautyiful recording and amazing snare work from the drummers part makes this one of the best drum intros to an album ever. Unreal. As far as my dream kick sound goes theres nout better than "So Long and thanks for all the Shoes" by NOFX. Cant pick a favourite over all drum sound at all but one of my absolute favourites would definitely be "Less Talk, More Rock" by Propagandhi, beautiful mix and lovely sound of everything to start with.

the drums on lets dance ny bowie. the album i mean. played by tony thompson and possibly omar hakim on a couple of tracks. anyhoo, notably the tracks lets dance and modern love. so crisp so clean. amazing.

Led Zeppelin 3- What a drum sound
ZZ Top Tres Hombres- beautiful sounds, Hats at the perfect volume
Tragedy second album- best sounding toms and all round lovely sound
Any Neurosis album for capturing pure heft

You've got that right. I'd say times of grace and a sun that never sets are my favourite for drum sound. Albini knows his stuff.

Tom Waits - Hoist That Rag
Because what is that? It's incredible.

Autolux - Turnstile Blues

Big, noisy, live sounding. Delicious.

Sereena Maneesh - Don't Come Down Here
Big reverby, massive cymbals.

Ray Lamontagne - Trouble
Lovely retro sound. Like something off Astral Weeks or some Al Green shit.

Smashing Pumpkins - Silverfuck

Weird muted compressed madness. Delicious toms / snare.

Deftones - Anniversary Of An Uninteresting Event
Huge. Gorgeous tone. Delicious.

Jeniferever - From Across The Sea
Great big tom sounds. Lovely crash sustain. Love that loose live sound.

Mars Volta - Eriatarka
Dynamic, wonderful clarity, mental but not intrusive.

Tom Waits uses amazing drum/percussion sounds
It's probably been mentioned already here but
Harvest - Neil Young - love the dead drum sound on this and also
Nashville - Josh Rouse - ditto for this and Midlake. Love that sound..

There's a deadly drum sound on The Pros and Cons of Hitch-Hiking by roger waters. it sounds like its probably some slick session drummer but the sound of the drums is really clean and sharp and mixed good and high. everything on this album sounds like it was recorded to emphasize the musicianship rather than to show off fancy studio trickery and the drums benefit most. even claptons guitar playing doesnt sound bad.

Art Blakey - Free For All, esp title track - loud thundering drums

Roy Harper - Lifemask. Theres only drums on two tracks and theyre ridiculously low in the mix but sound all the more driving and exciting for it
