That yungfla who sang 'They're gonna taste great' in the Frostie's ad: is he or is he not dead? I heard this morning he was killed in a car crash, but his death has been the subject of loads of rumours for ages. Anyone know the true story?

coincidentally I was reading about Cap'n earlier.
'Clean living' and with a 'seafaring accent'. He is now 84 and played the part for 30 years. Only to be replaced by a thirtysomething dude a few years ago.
