I know about the Calexico connections but thats about it.

I have the Witchita Lineman album, which is a straight cover of Witchita Lineman (not a bad one... but come on, no one is ever going to touch Glen C ampbell... right STAN BOWLES?) and then, I think, variations on the Jimmy Webb music... unfortunatly, if I remember right, it's a little boring and can be a poor mans Calexico at times.

Though I ain't listened too it in years, so it could be worth a revisit

jimmy webbs 5 cd set got a 5 star review in uncut this month. Its sounds like something id like but im wary (certainly of a 5 cd set). anyone know anything about his solo albums?

Not got any Jimmy Webb myself... so I don't really know... at that point in the conversation I'm ussually telling anyone who'll listen, in a very loud manner, that they have to track down Donna Summers 18 minute version of MacArthur Park... Gerogio Moroders utter miesterwurk in my opinion...

Archive is the perfect place to start for Jimmy Webb. It's cheap (usually 9.99), it's comprehensive and it's bloomin' marvellous. 'Where The Universes Are' is one of the greatest songs ever written by one of the greatest songwriters ever.
