I'm going to review this now and then see how right I am when I see it.

Elysium.

It begins with an interesting concept, junxtaposing the horrificly squalid earth with the opulent other world of elysium it's self. Both planets are brilliantly realised and nuanced. The performances from Foster and Damon are excellent and the film moves along quickly drawing the audience in with original ideas and a rewarding under current of social commentary which is handled with aplomb by director Neil Blomkamp, who manages to press his decidedly 3rd world out look on aesthetics and content into the film without completely going off the deep end into a polemic,

However as with District 9 as the film heads towards it's climax and veers headlong towards explosions and special effect set pieces the films point gets lost and everything interesting is eventually sacrificed for cheap thrills and frankly silly twists. Pity really. Still it's always nice to look at and Matt Damon has a really oddly shaped head. Which is a bit of fun all in all.

Yes but you'll find that the reviews that have been counted are for the most part from the bargain basement of internet only magazines. Once the broadsheet papers and the industry rags weigh in that 75% will plummet.

In fact Rotten Tomatoes suffers somewhat from what I refer to as "pop dilution" The more "popcorn" and the more relevant in popular culture a film is the more reviews it receives, and the wider range of reviewers that will review it. As a result the review from Heat magazine will be right beside the one from Sight and Sound and because Rotten Tomatoes simply tabulates the results of the reviews without weighting the results you get ridiculous abbherations. For example Bridesmaids has a higher score than Fitzcarraldo.

They've made it look very complicated.
