Female rock/punk bands in Ireland? (1 Viewer)

Did someone say something about sexy bass players?

Note to female bass players who are not virtuoso's(and possibly other instruments too) please be aware you are not good enough,go away now and practice lots for several years,if after that you are considered good enough or as having an important enough role in a band, your band may get a shot at playing this event.

R.I.P. Party Weirdo :-(
Can't believe HWCH turned them down, they were one of the most original bands in a long time, and so much fun live.
All together now...CHART YOUR CYCLE!!!

"If said bass duties were more like Flea or something, that'd be a different story of course. The same goes for really basic rhythm guitar, keyboard or drum work."

I know you may not have intended this, but this sentence reproduces the idea that a girl/woman in a band is automatically a lesser musician than her male counterparts. Before she has even played a note, you are already stating that - she must not be "basic" she must be more "like Flea or something". This is the type of pressure, the critical gaze, the questioning look that male musicians rarely encounter and a direct reason why so few girls/women start playing instruments and form bands.

And also a reason why we need a safe space like the Girls Rock Camp Ireland for girls* to play the roles in the music industry that they want, on their own terms!

Never said this. Was pointing out a problem that women seem to be bassists by default and aren't taken as seriously in rock music in general. Kindly fuck off.

......and as a result you pretty much said you didn't want them at your fest which comes across as agreeing with that idea.

Oh,and I wouldn't be bothered about being kind or mean,it really makes no difference to me.
