going to use some of the remaining pitch pine for the body/neck, and I'm currently in the process of grading down a bit of mahogany for the finger board
i got a 20-something mm thick piece of maple to use for the top of the body; not highly figured, alas, but i do know someone with a bandsaw which should have a resaw capacity of six inches; so i'll resaw it and bookmatch it hopefully.
I got three wee sheets of OSB at the *chain DIY store* from the bin yesterday.

wood pulled from a skip is always the best.
a couple of houses being stripped out around us at the moment - been keeping an eye out for any thing interesting being tossed.
i was given that maple by that lad i know in north county dublin, he's got a sizable collection of wood. he gave me a 30 inch length (about an inch thick and 7 wide) from a plank probably 12 foot long. he's got many cubic metres of wood there of all sorts.
is this the cabinet maker/harp maker guy?
yep; he was working on a drawer bottom when i arrived, planing 3mm off a piece of pine probaby 40cm by 60cm. that looked like work.. he was using a nice no.7 though.
are you going to try to do a carved top on your next build, or just leave it flat?
yep, i'm considering a curved top - just rechecked the maple i have, 27mm thick.
allowing for a bodge job resawing, i'm hoping to still have a 10mm+ thick top to shape.

I've seen guys online effectively create a series of gradient templates for a router and then sand it out.
depending on how defined you want the profile you might get a lot of it done with the rasp?

I bought a cheap one before and the piece behind the humbucker was very narrow.
There would have been a gap....if I fitted it.
was it 75euros worth of a gap? ;-)

I considered taking out two of the pickups on my strat and putting a new pickguard on with only the one pick up.
Decided the guitar was fine the way it was.
