these guys are going to have to make this all a bit more user-friendly and/or idiot-proof if they want to take on facebook. or even just make non-nerds ever use it.the joindiaspora.com main "pod" is not accepting any more users just yet, but these guys at www.diasp.org are accepting new users on their pod.

well of course, its only in its infancy, but there is a will out there for an alternative, especially an open source one.
yep, i'm all for it as well. i'd love to see it become huge. but at the moment, clicking around, i can barely make sense of it. pods? aspects? server hosting? huh? if it's going to work, it needs to have a single, simple, elegant point of involvement, and hide everything else. despite the fact that it is open-source and therefore not linked to a single 'place', it would still make sense to make it easy for people. something akin to the front page of tumblr would be simple enough for average schmoes to get into it.
www.diasp.orgSo how do i get an invite. What am i doing wrong?
This might sound awfully superficial, but their website looks fucking shite considering how long they've been working on it.
We are on hold to offer hosting for code stability, but....
Do it your selfer? We use Virpus for VPS and they have great prices.
