Death Metal (1 Viewer)

great gig indeed...

De Burcas?

seriously though. it's great.

Nihilist
Autopsy
Carnage
Immolation
Rottrevore
Incarnis
Disembowelment

best bands ever.

and that's no lie.

go on. admit it. you love it.

If you own a crust record, anything with Tomas Lindberg on it, or even (wait for it) a DISCHARGE record (okay - listen to "Protest and Survive" - now listen to the more mid paced bits of Repulsion) and you don't like death metal..well..frankly, I just don't know what to say to you really.even Gary Sloane likes death metal. I've seen him get all teary eyed at the opening strains of "From Beyond" by Massacre. honest.

so there. death metal. it's great.
dosent do it for me.

So...recomend me some stuff that isnt horribly boring repetitive wanky technical death metal. And i'll have a second opinion. I like Death, Brutal Truth and (early) Napalm Death if that's anything to go by.

Dude...okay:

The first real death metal record I got many many moons ago and still probably my favourite:

Entombed - Left Hand Path.

Here's a pile of essentials, of both the quite technical (as far as I like it, anyway) and totally burly storm-of-claws-and-teeth (as I generally prefer it) variety. Download at least three of the following and give them at least three listens each; if you're into grind and other hard fast distort guitar music and you don't get pure joy from at least some of these, then I don't know what to say...

If on the other hand you enjoy the following, say so, and I'll post a load more...let me know what you think of these...

Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness.

Dismember - Like An Ever Flowing Stream.

Grave - Into The Grave.

Cryptopsy - None So Vile.

Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten.

Obituary - Slowly We Rot.

Sepultura - Beneath The Remains.

Sepultura - Arise.

Just my contribution to spreading a little valentine's death...

nnnice. I have a few Entombed tracks off Left Hand Path, pretty good but never followed up on them. I have the two Sepultura ones and have a few Obituiry tracks that I like but again I never followed 'em up....I listened to a bit of Morbid Angel on youtube before but wasn't into it. Funny that you put Cryptosy up there, was listening to them just a while ago. Haven't heard of the other stuff at all. I'll give them all a go though.

Saw an ad recently for the re-release of the Divine Eve stuff ..
an anthology called "Upon these ashes scorn the world" on Tarot productions

http://www.tarotproductions.com/news_DivineEve_UponTheseAshes_OutNow.php

well worth picking up...

Have it.
Essential.

Okay, when I get a chance later today I'm gonna post some (probably myspace) links to some of the greats, and some current bands who dispel the myth that Death Metal is a load of "technical wank".

Oh, and Gary, sorry for the misspelling.

I'm with trewv: it's all about Bill Steer.

speaking of good old death metal..
skip or jamie do any of ye have releases by the following that i could steal???

namland
traumatic
crematory (the scandinavian one not those german gobshites)
funebre
dead end

used to have them all on tape but they is well gone....
death metal today is played by fuckin posers...hardcore and crust have more aggression, heaviness and riffs in it's little finger than death metal has had for the last 10 years....
