Definitely 'Broom Of The System'.

Then 'The Girl With Curious Hair' or 'A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do'.

Followed by 'Oblivion Stories' and 'Brief Interviews With Hideous Men'.

I've not read 'Infinity' or his book on hip-hop.

His short story that appeared in the New Yoiker a while back was really poor. I don't think he's done anything since.

Oh he did a great article on CGI/Terminator 2 for Atlantic Monthly that was reproduced in Waterstone's magazine. Worth tracking down...

i've only read his articles / journalism but A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again and Consider The Lobster are both great

i started it and didn't finish it. it felt infinite.

I feel the same way about Infinite Jest.
I got bogged down in the foot-notes and acronyms nevermind trying to wade through the dense prose concerning characters I grew to hate.

He's a frustrating writer. Dazzling and boring-sometimes in the same sentence.

I'm reading Infinite Jest at the moment. Great fun, but it really doesn't need to be that long, does it?

The essays are brilliant though - the cruise ship, state fair, David Lynch and tennis ones in particular.
