This is very annoying. Every time someone picks up the wee cordless phone in the house I lose internet connection!

I see from googling that it might be a conflict between frequencies between the phone and router.

Have any of you had similar problems and, if so, what do I do about it?

New phone maybe?

Sounds like you don't have a line splitter on that phone terminal hence it's cutting of the BB everytime you pick it up. You need a splitter on each phone terminal you use (even if it's just a phone on its own plugged into it). Ring up eircom/whoever does your internet and they should be able to send one out for free.

Are you losing wireless connection - if so its probably the frequency of phone interfering with the Wi-Fi signal. If you are using a 802.11n system you should be able to switch between 2.4 and 5 GHz.. (I think some phones operate at 2.4 GHz)
