Everyone dreadlocked crusty punk I knew smelled of sweat and cumin. I get quite nostalgic these days when the wind carries a fistful of that befouled air my way.

My sister was a patchouli fan and was once asked to leave the pub because other patrons complained about the smell.

I was kind of on their side.

Martin had proper crusty dreadlocks, I only had a dreadlock fringe, when I was 12. I got more bullied for it than anything.

His were great. Pure The Levellers. Mine were shite and I shaved my head and died the stubble green about a week after I got them.
