hey he got to voice a robot that canges into a planet that eats other planets - definatly a high note. (planet eating robots are bodacious). Kinda ironic seeing as wells was kinda planet shaped when he died - probably from eating.

Eric idle and Lenoard nimoy were in that to along with Robert stack who was the voice of ultra magnus! Imagine Ultra Magnus presenting Unsolved Mysteries
wow, it was that kind of thinking that attracted me to characters like 'the beyonder' and 'galacticus' in secret wars. those dudes ATE planets and stuff... pretty cool.

So comics.. yeah I was in Sub city yesterday and asked the skinny guy how much originals of the watchmen series were going for (I have the full set american ones mind..) It's all thats left of my lovley collection. I sold the rest to buy my bass.I thought chicks would dig me more if I was in a band than under the covers with batman. Boy was I wrong.

watchmen, deadly. i used to read my cousins ones. he played in one of those hardcore bands from maynooth of yore, SFC they were called (some fucking crumbs, maybe you remember them pete?) ha ha ha, hee hee, their 'logo' was a drawing of a cloud, a guy falling from it about to land on an upside down car and the motto was "don't fall out of the sky and land on upside down cars". and he used to listen to all this explicit gay hardcore from NY which kinda frightened me, i was only young. he also had this amazing comic called green arrow. that was deadly too.

RE viz annuals
i have the big hard one somewhere in my gaff

i used to have the dogs bollocks
the big pink stiff one and
the big hard one 2 and
(insert name of one i cant remember)
but theyre all gone now
i think my brother has them in his gaff

can you not buy them anymore?

the best thing i ever saw in viz was these guys who flew around with rotating jism chins. so fucking nuts. :)

from viz top tips:

BUSY executives. Don't buy a Dachshund. Their amusing sausage shape means they take 50% longer to stroke than other dogs, and time is money.

RAY MEARS Lose those extra pounds by not constantly grazing on grass and leaves like some kind of prize-winning cow

WORM farmers Double your yield by simply cutting every worm in half. Hey presto! Each half will grow into a new worm.

MOTORISTS Avoid getting prosecuted for using your phone whilst driving. Simply pop your mobile inside a large shell and the police will think you are listening to the sea.

IMPOTENT men Don't waste money on expensive drugs like Viagra off the internet. Just let your wife think you don't fancy her.

The Watchmen movie is due to start filming in Prague later this year. Its by the same producers as Hellboy

Cant remember where i read that but heres a link to other news

I think Terry Gilliams quote says it all

Update - This may have been Terry Gilliam taking the piss, but at a recent film festival he was quoted as saying that after he made Good Omens he might make a Watchmen movie, but only if he could make it twelve hours long!

here gav, what did skinny guy say about the originals, or even reprints for that matter? Are they available? I've heard brilliant things about the watchmen series really want to pick up a few

It would be one expensive movie to make if they kept it to the spirit of the book..eg. Big blue John osterman in vietnam towering above the trees winning the war..visiting mars and making the big crystal palace clock thingum. Ahh memories its all comming back to me..

..he didn't know anything (which surprised me?) He said the guy who knows all the stuff would be in today. Also the Collected book was comming today. The reprint of all the comics in one edition. If you haven't read it I heartily reccommend even if you dont like comics that much. Very adult in content, and a humdinger of a story..every time I've read it over the last couple ofyears I see something different. I think the book costs about €17 or so but dont quote me.

the whole one edition reprint costs 17? that's pretty good, how long did the series run for?
I've just finished buying all the sandman reprints, i'd never read it before but jayz what a class comic that is. I started reading about other comics of the same ilk and watchmen (aswell as swamp thing, hellblazer and preacher) figured very highly so i'd say i'd definitely be into it.

sandman though - sheer fucking brilliance

never got round to reading watchmen - the one with the smiley face on it was on a shelf in a house I shared a few years ago There were some sandmans though, which I read and thought was pretty original. Pity niel gaimans books arent much good - well except for neverwhere which was really good , except I heard the TV series was rubbish. Speaking of which anyone here ever read China Meville's books - I just finished Perdido street staition. It was Odd, very odd, but the world he portays is very vivid. It has a pretty interesting story I with unusual charachters and a heavily developed backstory but as times i think he lets his imagination run to far into the realms of plain bizzarness.
