Comeback Kid - 16 June - Eamonn Doran's (2 Viewers)

"Comeback Kid unleashes Broadcasting…their most diverse album yet. Recorded again with pop-punk legend Bill Stevenson at The Blasting Room, the album encompasses both heavier and more melodic elements."

No expert but as HC goes their Myspace songs are soft especially Broadcasting

Bill Stevenson recorded their current album.
so i guess we can start denouncing him and all his work now.

If that doesn't satisfy you head down to Leeson st/

guys from figure four + named after jesus = good enough for me

Their old guitarist was a christian( at least i think hes gone) but the rest of them are most definately not. More importantly Andrew who writes all the stuff is a staunch atheist.

incorrect...for some reason there was an old copy of inside knowledge zine in the jacks this morning and it has an interview with andrew of comeback kid where he says the following,

"Well I don't think I can tell anyone how to change his or her life but I do know for myself that Christ is the most important thing in my life...For me, God has helped me a lot inhard times and I know he is always there for me. It really gives me hope and strength reading encouraging words I find in the bible, or talking (praying) to God. I give all the slory to God."

odd words for an atheist do you not think?

edit: p.s. fuck the shitty bible, guess he didn't read all the lovely bits about how if you rape a virgin all you gotta do is give her da fifty silver coins and she's yer bird for life....shitty bible

Hmm i'll believe it when i see it. I seen a similar interview in runnin feart were the old guitarist came off with similar christian bullshit are you sure the interview wasn't with him? I've read several interviews in various different zines where andrew has defended them against people saying their a christian band and he mentions that he is an atheist. Maybe he's just full of shit? but i duuno they recently did a tour of Japan with Propagandhi and im positive Chris Hannah and co would rather chop off their cocks and eat them than tour with a band with christian member(s).

Haha stroked Kev, STROKED! YOU'RE SHIT AND YOUR BAND IS CRAP! STTTRRROOKKKKEEEDDD! Althought well done on winning the league.

Listen beardo, should you not be cleaning those bird nests out of yer stinkin face hair instead of slegging Neil Lennon lookalikes.

ps.

I'll knock yer ballix in.

pps.

Yeooooooooooooooooooooo!

Andrew Neufold in March 2007:
''JoshIVM: You’re well known for being the frontman for Figure Four, who were very outspoken lyrically about their faith. Then obviously you started CK with both Christian and non-Christian members. The band was led by Wade, who I am assuming wrote the lyrics, and who is not a Christian. I’ve read in interviews that you stated something to the effect of you cannot fully agree with some of those things you sang in Figure Four. Is there more you explain there?
Andrew: Like I said before I’m just at a different time in my life now. I don’t believe in the same things I did when I was 16 years old. Figure Four started in 1998 and the other original members definitely had an agenda and as the band changed ( members) I was growing up and my opinion changed on a lot of issues. Classic story I guess. I don’t know what happens to us when we die.''

There you have it, used to be a stupid christian - isnt anymore- case dimissed.

In two short years, Comeback Kid have gone from hardcore underdogs to a wildly successful scene institution, a spot most bands spend years trying to attain. ~ AMP

Comeback Kid formed with one simple purpose in mind: to get out and play some fast, furious hardcore. Two critically acclaimed albums later and after tirelessly touring in the UK, Europe, Canada, USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Iceland with bands such as Rise Against, Sick Of It All, Madball, Bad Religion, Dropkick Murphys, Gorilla Biscuits, Terror, and Bane, Comeback Kid have become one of the biggest names in hardcore today.

Now, two years since the release of Wake the Dead (Victory / Smallman), Comeback Kid unleashes Broadcasting…their most diverse album yet. Recorded again with pop-punk legend Bill Stevenson at The Blasting Room, the album encompasses both heavier and more melodic elements. Lead singer Andrew Neufeld explains, “We wanted to up the ante with this one. Mix it up a little bit more. I think that with music it’s great to explore new things and push the envelope a bit.”

The result is a superbly crafted, hard-hitting tour de force. Described by Neufeld, “This is definitely the darkest record we have ever written. We were going for more of an epic, full sounding album. It still has the classic CBK elements but everything is turned up a notch.” Listen to the album and you will see that this is a modest understatement.

The album also shows maturity in lyrical content. The title track "Broadcasting..." addresses the fear instilled in our society towards those deemed the enemy. “There are figures in the public eye that are portrayed as dangerous and we are told they are the enemy. I think a lot of the time the real enemy is in our own backyard, trying to scare us into believing whatever they tell us. There is danger all around us, but not always where we're told it is,” explains Neufeld.
