eh like - that makes no sense. He saw the cat and so did I - and I reckon so did the taxi driver - and both of us were going 'waaaaarghhhh!! the cat! the cat!' while the taxi driver sped up to bring about the cats untimely demise

Yes, the taxi driver did run it over, at speed. And when we all started roaring (read, I started roaring) the taxi driver got all 'Oi never saw no fuuukin cah' and didn't even go back and at least make sure it was dead, and not dying some agonising death on the side of Dorset St. And then he charged us.
