cheap, basic external soundcard card w/ MIDI? for OSX! (1 Viewer)

howra. quick qstn:

looking for a few suggestions for an external soundcard & MIDI i/o, for my laptop under the following criteria:

• preferably firewire, I suppose
• mac osx compatible
• basic MIDI in/out
• number of inputs not important. one stereo line in is fine.. although 4 inputs might also be considered
• cheap!

basically I'll be using it for live input manipulation (vocals etc.) thru logic or whatever, and using MIDI to interface with (mostly) reason from a keyboard. The problem is that my old powerbook is from a generation of models where apple didn't see any necessity in including a line/mic input. fucking eejits.

so that's it. an external MIDI i/o, with line in!

I'll probably be buying off thomann or some other online source. I assume that M Audio may have something to suit me, but I thought I'd ask here before looking because yizzerall so brilliant st giving good advice around here. and I'm lazy.

well, not that much but I suppose I'm not that limited. a few hundred euro if necessary... as little as possible though! things like loads of audio inputs and outputs aren't necessary. so nothing overkill as the

although, now that I think of it, multiple outs would be cool too. not loads though. wouldn't need loads...

but any suggestions are welcome and will be considered!
