91% of P*rnhub was already taken down—over 50 million+ images & videos. Now, the owners confessed that by June 30 they are being forced to remove a huge portion of the remaining 9% because they never verified those in the videos weren’t children or rape victims.

Don't really know anything about pornhub, but if their content is user-generated (which I'm guessing it is?) this isn't surprising. In the US online platforms are typically not legally liable for user-generated content (see Section 230 - Wikipedia), so seems unlikely they'd pay people to do verification unless they were forced to

IIRC a bunch of states have made age verification a requirement to watch pornhub, so they probably also made it a requirement to upload?

They used to have user generated material but they removed it a couple of years ago because of age verification legislation. The current content appears to be largely porn studios’ own channels or OnlyFans models videos. Personally I get my sexual gratification from Sheela-na-gigs and close up photos of orchids.

I understood from this that they were removing stuff cos they hadn't verified that the people in the videos were not kids or rape victims, not that they actually are kids or rape victims - and I was trying to provide some context for why a faceless corporation wouldn't moderate user-generated content (cos they have a financial incentive not to)

... maybe I picked you up wrong though? Like I said I don't know much about pornhub - according to other people in the thread pornhub doesn't have much user-generated content, so what I said is kinda irrelevant anyway
