Well obviously the original thme from Doctor Who is an irrefutable classic but I dunno if anyone remembers the music from 'Chocky'-an Eighties ITV adaptation of the John Wyndham novel. Rudimentary electronica fo' sure but I'm pretty sure Boards Of Canada were influenced by it.
Jamie & The Magic Torch had a nice jaunty power-pop feel to it-like an E-fueled Big Star-even though it did appear to promote the joys of onanism.
Anyway I also liked the closing credits of The Incredible Hulk which was so elegiac it's worthy of a Papal requiem.
Then there was The Moomins stop-motion version from the late eighties: another surreal, creepy avant-folk tune. It was like they recorded motorbike-chains falling on a bed of leaves. Underwater.
All very affecting stuff.
