it is a cover of Salon Music - Spending Silent Night. so someone dubbed Confuse over a video of Salon Music! the original romantic lyrics have all been changed to punk stuff.
here's the whole Spending Loud Night EP. this is believed to have been recorded in 1985.

I nominate it because it's both completely phony but also about as real as everyone else back then, always trying to be one kneejerk reaction ahead. Nothing more classic punk rock to me than songs about scene politics! Oh, and great track as far as these things go.

Johnny Won't Get To Heaven is often cited as a proto hardcore song - great tune. Damaged Goods reissued it on 7' years at some stage

Oh that's interesting, I really like it but I'm glad Kev quickly formed Dexys and not, like, some West Midlands version of Minor Threat. It's a shame they never properly made a full album though.
