see the breaking glass

in the underpass

see the breaking glass

in the underpass

warm

leatherette

hear the crushing steel

feel the steering wheel

hear the crushing steel

feel the steering wheel

warm

leatherette

warm

leatherette

warm leatherette

melts on your burning flesh

you can see your reflection

in the luminescent dash

warm

leatherette

a tear of petrol

is in your eye

the hand brake

penetrates your thigh

quick - let's make love

before you die

on warm

leatherette

Today it is Joni Mitchell, 'Conversation'.

Tomorrow it might be a different Joni Mitchell song.

I have a problem?

Perhaps.

Could someone please confiscate my Joni Mitchell albums so that I can listen to other things? Please?*

*I don't mean this. Touch them and pay in blood.

b-side TVOM is pretty amazing too

Today, as it is every day, the best song in the world ever is

Quality of Armor by Guided By Voices.
"The worst defence is intelligence, the best defence is belligerence"

ooh ooh, someone just gave me a nina simone cd with her cover of leonard cohens suzanne on it.

the lady,she is groovy:cool:

The only song's I've heard today have been:

"The house that guilt built", "Happy" and "She sends Kisses" by the Wrens; "Carwash" by X-tina and the first half of the new live aid song.

I declare "She Send Kisses" to be the worlds greatest song. But that cover of Suzanne is pretty great too, I might just pull out my Nina Simone CD's as soon as possible.

Best song today and all week is Joanna Newsom - Sprout and the bean. I (like everyone else I know) thought she sounded ridiculous the first time I heard her. She sings like a little kid that can't pronounce her 'r's but you get used to it especially when the song is as beautiful as this.

good choice...

orginal or cover version?
original.

grace jones' cover is a bit mad, really. 80s funk reggae. but then she also did a barmy cover of 'she's lost control', too.

does anybody know what a 'leatherette' is? it sounds kind of ambiguous and terrifying at the same time.

i was talking about 'warm leatherette' a while ago, and my co-conversationalist opined that it was the kind of song that a bastard capitalist yuppie would have on while murdering someone. damn straight.

in other news, this song is the same age as me.

Listened to (a bit of) emancipation on the bus this morning...
Princes version of Betcha By Golly Wow by the Stylistics is true art
