how the hell do you break your ears?

best 5 minutes: michael owen scoring two late late goals vs. de arse in the f.a. cup final

what the hell does de arse mean? (im sorry im a football illiterate nerd.)

broken ears:
(tale of woe - those who bore easily or hate sick fuckers moaning please move on - there's nothing to see here)

late dec 2000/jan 2001 - got an ear infection. at first i thought they was sore because i'd been to a couple of loud gigs (murder city devils in particular killed me) - eventually i went to the doctor - shortly after starting on the antibiotics and ear drops i got tinnitus and then the ears kept getting inflamed/itchy/infected every now and then for about 6-7 months - couldn't listen to a damn thing - eventually went to a specialist (fucking crap public waiting lists) who hosed and scraped 'em out and since then things have been a good bit better but i still have the ould tinnitus - its ear plugs for me from now on i'm afraid.

'de arse': is an affectionate term for Arsenal - yes i'm sad, very, very sad

A friend: let's call him Man About Town - thought he was goin a bit deaf so he went to the doctors.

Turns out there was a huge deposit of snot behind his (rather impressive) nose, and behind his cheekbones, that had begun to make its way back to his ear cavity.

Few nose-drops and sure wasn't he grand. Except for the large conk.

no way! - one o my nostrils has been clogged up for months - i keep gettin sinus infections - maybe i'm just carrying extra snot... ask your mate how the doctor twigged - like did he look up his nose or what?

Conor - I suggest you go to www.thomann.de and search for Alpine Musiksafe earplugs. Got a pair recently and while they do affect the sound, it's FAR less noticeable than with any others I've ever tried (and I've been wearing plugs at gigs for 10+ years, on account of longer and longer bouts of tinnitus after going out, leading to one in 1990 which never completely went away). They're not as comfortable as some others and they're dear but the improvement in sound is worth it I reckon.
Second best for sound are those wax ones the come in a plastic box with 'Quies' written on the front that you get in the chemist.
The squishy ones people use in factories cut out too much bass and the yellow foamy ones cut out too much treble.

Oh and as for Harry Potter ... hype's a funny thing, I reckon it puts damn near as many people off as it turns people on. I bought the books for my cousin as they came out and just happened to read the 3rd one before I sent it to him ... and didn't put it down (except for one BADLY needed piss break) until it was finished. Subsequently bought the others, and the 4th when it came out and loved them all. Had I heard of them via the hype machine I'm sure I never would have read em (like some of my friends for whom I've bought copies, but who haven't even opened them cos they're put off by all the fuss).

... so eeemmm, my point was ... Harry Potter is brilliant, fucker

yeah, that would be like confusing pat with path.

one's a humourless moan and the other's a lovely gent.

i just don't know which is which

I for one am pretty fucking sick of this Path bashing. He's a very nice, sincere chap and doesn't deserve the volume of shit he gets on this board.

I don't like coming here as much as I used to...

me either :(

By pure fluke I got a pair of them Alpine earplugs a few months ago (I asked my girlfriend to get me a pair of ear plugs and she got those ones) and they are really good compared to the usual yokes alright - ta for the tip though.

my hype thing was mainly levelled at the movie (as I haven't read the books) which was typical "old blighty" fare. As far as the books go though I read a load of fantasy and sci-fi and the idea of a bespectacled english 10 year old wizard on a broomstick in modern day england doesn't really sound like my thing. Roll on lord of the rings...

....so eeeeemmm, my point was ... i forget

also i agree - path's been wound up too much

No way!

Best wrasslin' move is that thing what the Undertaker does where he twists the buggers arm round then lifts them up over his head by their wrist....which in retrospect looks a lot more convincing than it reads.

Same here. Path has a run-in with beardy and everyone else rows in. Saps. Just cos someone loses the rag when they're needled doesn't mean they're humourless
actually im not trying to slag off path here at all (in case anyone thinks i am) in fact i think some of what he says is very interesting, (likewise im not so into what he says some of the rest of the time but thats personal opinion)at the end of the day i have the upmost respect for him for getting off his ass and doing stuff.however i would love, absolutely love to see him and hag have a rap off, it would absolutely be brilliant if unlikely.
so who had the fight beardy as in hag or beardy as in bearded lady. ?
