Biography
ONE SELF

DJ Vadim Decks, Mpc & Efx
Yarah Bravo MC , Poet, Fader Board
Blu Rum 13 MC, Freestyle

One Self has arrived on the scene!! The Hiphop supergroup that everyone is talking about. The name might be new, but these guys are veterans. Born from rocking stages world-wide as the touring unit The Russian Percussion, hitting more than 600 shows world wide in the last six years. They are five of the funkiest , most innovative and soulful performers on the scene today. And they are brining us the collaboration that we have all been waiting for.

Consisting of DJ Vadim the founder of well respected record label Jazz Fudge, A&R, producer, DJ, promoter, record collector, radio presenter, writer, it’s not much this man has not done to support the hiphop movement. He found the best vocal collaborators in Yarah and Blurum. 2 of the illest MC’s on the scene today and with a passion for the culture and music, only to be matched by their skills.
Yarah Bravo has a throat dripping with diamonds and a smile that would make a preacher switch religions yet this homegirl rips the microphone apart and kills MCs and stereos. Her versatile style, tonal movements, and meter shifts complement an aphrodisiac voice that was born to be broadcast.
Blurum 13 possesses a commanding baritone that destroys the sound barrier and constructs its own temple of boom. Over ten years on the mic and stage, He is disarmingly honest, creative and one of the nicest on these mic devices. The definition of an MC.
Their debut album Children of Possibility has received nothing but amazing reviews.
With media interest from all over the globe at an all time high, and the support from the likes of BBC, Radio 1, XFM, COLEUR 3, Radio Nova, RTL3 , Radio Fritz, MTV and tipped for the top from Rainer Truby, Seiji (bugs in the attic), Andy Smith (portishead), Dj Excalibah (1xtra), Mr Thing (x scratch perverts) and Laurent Garnier....
With an underground following that stretches far beyond the average hiphop crew. This is music with a heart... and they put on a show not to be missed!!!
"In the words of Eric B and Rakim "It ain't no joke". Super individualistic piece of futuristic psychedelic hiphop soul" - DJ
"One Self go on the box when you want to hear some of the most inventive shit of our time." TRACE "If the music industry was true and just, and not the poisoned and corrupt industry bound to the brainwashed tastes of the mindless majority then this could possibly be Ninja Tunes first number one hit record" - Soul Generation

"The beat echoes so loudly that the vibrations cause your brain to rupture, creating a soggy mess that starts to pour through your ears. and you can’t help but get excited." - Subba Cultcha
"A new ‘super-group’! - Indie London

"Buy it, live it, love it and compare everything else against it for years to come. Vadim's promise of genius has finally arrived." - Soul Generation

INDIVIDUAL BIOGRAPHIES

DJ VADIM

Hardest working man in show business? Trouper? Tireless? However you want to put it, be sure of one thing, when DJ Vadim first heard the phrase "Don’t sleep” he obviously took it literally.

Over the last decade few people can have put so much time and energy into the culture they love. Founder of Jazz Fudge in early 1995, A&R, producer, DJ, promoter, record collector, radio presenter, writer, and in-house producer/dj of Latin Grammy nominees, 7 Notas 7 Colorez, Vadim has certainly been keeping himself busy! And that’s before we even mention his DJing itself which has seen him perform in every country in Europe(east and west), all over North America, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand. Japan, South America and South East Asia clocking a staggering 180 shows yearly. To describe the man as an internationalist almost seems to sell him short. He is certainly one of the most successful and respected hip hop dj’s around.
Signed to Ninja Tune from 96, Vadim has released 4 distinct solo album’s - USSR Repertoire(96), USSR Reconstruction(98), Life from the other side(99), Art of listening(2002), 2 group LP’s - Isolationist(with Anti Pop Consortium and dj Primecuts - 99) and One Self(2005), countless singles, mix cd’s and remixes for the likes of DJ Krush, The Cure, Gus Gus,Gangster, Paul Weller, Mark B.... All hip hop but a little different. Productions which Vadim describes as " very grown up but cheeky and musical ” Urban but on the edge with a fresh unique touch.

Feeling tired yet? Hang on in there. The 4 weetabix a day powerhouse has much more to come. Already cemented are productions for UK spitter’s Dark Circle, Foreign Beggars, Aspect’s, kela as well as hot new Parisian super crew Bunzen, Up coming Latin lyrical reggae giant Paco Mendoza..... Music for Absolute Vodka. News of a 7 notas reunion, a new DJ Vadim LP - Same DIfferent(coming out beginning on Ninja Tune 2006) and countless other production’s, remixes dropping somewhere soon. One thing for sure whether it’s Flamenco hip hop, Arabian space funk, Lettuce propelled rockets, new Vad reggae alias Junior Rankin or instro funk shiznittz Blixton Rodriguez, quality is guaranteed.

YARAH BRAVO
From smokey poetry bars to hiphop cyphers a voice can be heard, a voice that is slowly rising it self up from underground mix tapes to vinyl crates, from stages to the airwaves... Her style is soulful and sweet but yet powerful and strong, she is a vocalist as well as a lyricists. and knows how to use both sides of the coin well. If you haven't already heard of Yarah Bravo, it's about time you pay attention.

Though her young age she has already toured the world not once but twice as the front woman of the touring unit Russian Percussion. She is part of two groups, One Self and B.o.B, as well as being an artist in her right... In the past she has helped out at record labels, worked as a studio engineer, designed everything from flyers to hats to bags, studied drama and singing and she is now picking up the guitar, and learning production as well, there is just no stopping this woman's creativity! ... With more than four languages under her belt, she chose the language of music as a way of expressing her self. with no need to represent a country or a borough, this homegirl represents women in hiphop and her self to the fullest....

YARAH BRAVO SINGS THE FREEDOM SONG - A friend of mine once wrote a short story entitled ‘The last free spirits on earth’. A tale of two youngsters exploring the freedom of being alive through tying an old television set to the bumper of their 1973 Volkswagen Beetle and careening through the night streets of a quiet suburb letting bottle rockets whiz out the windows periodically as the television skittered over the road, crashing into signs on the turns. Yarah Bravo exemplifies that youthful, exuberant petrol-soaked perfume of life. If the former is the myth of freedom, then Yarah is the reality..... As hip-hop continues to reel through so many permutations, and the world seems on the brink of something big, Yarah is still bringing a little bit of freedom to every city she visits. - Carlisle Rogers (InTheMix)

Born in New York, raised in Washington DC, Blu Rum could not have been better situated to receive a Hip hop education.
