Best gigs that no one was at... (1 Viewer)

Oh I was at that too, it was fucking deadly.

One of my all-time favourite gig-going memories was the look on John Dermody's face as he walked into the room while the opening act was, um, playing.

Where did Street Thunder vanish to, anyway? There's an act that's due a reunion tour...

sadly Paul, sadly I missed the support act that night.

And Jacobs Mouse in the Rock Garden, ah the handsome swishy haired twins.

I still listen to Jacob's Mouse all the time.
Best singing drummer in all of indie-land ;)

Pitchshifter in the Mean Fiddler around 97 or so.

Played to about 70, one of whom ripped the mic off its lead when JS Clayden handed it out for a singalong, prompting the venue to pull the plug (cos it was their mic). The pricks.

Still, they were immense that night.

my favourite pitchshifter song was 'genius'. i was madly in love with JS Clayden.

johnny cash at san quentin, now there was a fucking gig (that no-one here was at)

ed hammell (on trial) tells a deadly story about listening to folsom prison blues on that album - where johnny sings the line 'i shot a man in reno, just to watch him die' and you can hear a load of murderous nutters in the audience screaming "yeah!", totally identifying with the sentiment

you just don't get audiences like that anymore

I was at that Jacob's Mouse gig too. In fact, I played at it. Deadly band.

judas priest played the sfx about 15 years ago and the turnout was so bad that the entire audience got up on the stage for the last couple of tracks.

Kinda creepy. Now lets never speak of this again.

Was that the gig where they used the strippers or the old men? I can't remember. I was only taking to one half of Street Thunder about 3 weeks ago and he reckons they'll never play again. I was gutted.

That must have been with Ripper singing. I was at the one with Rob Halford and it was a decent turnout, almost full.

AMM in the Project was surprisingly empty considering that it was *THE* AMM playing. Can't think of any others.
keith rowe and pita drew about 10 people or so in cork about 2 years ago. pita even counted the amount of people in the crowd before his set. amazing gig all the same. almost all the best gigs i've seen in cork have been brutally attended. 14 people at corsano & flaherty i think. about 10 at whitehouse. all the dotdotdot gigs (except sunburned hand of the man which surprisingly drew a bit or a crowd) drew about the 10 people or less mark ... troum, john butcher, john edwards and loads more amazing gigs. michael gira didn't draw a whole lot either as far as i remember. there wasn't a whole lot of people at melt banana or the ex (best gig i've ever seen) either. loads more too. cork sucks.

That was the stripper one. The old men opened for Add N to (X), if I remember correctly. The other time I "saw them" was at Witnness, when they got the two biker dudes to drive their Harleys on stage and rev them to visuals and music. Class stuff.

Ganger in the Funnel Bar was pretty empty and they were amazing. it was also the last ever Jackbeast performance and they were really amazing playing loads of new stuff, kinda instrumental rocking stuff that ive never heard since maybe some of its worked into the 'manifesto. great gig.

Bluetip and Bambi in the Temple basement, was Bambi's 2nd last gig I think, they were amazing that night.

I was at that one as well, and yeah, it was pretty empty. Pity, as I agree that it was a great gig (as were most all of the seven or eight Bambi gigs I made it to).
