rather than rattling off lists (which you can do if you want), hows about 1 bullet for each.

for me:

Gig: Courtney Barnett (San Francisco)
Album: tough to pick just one but I'd go for Sinkane.
Song: High Five by Angel Olsen.

shoot

Gig: The one that I remember is Neutral Milk Hotel. I know I enjoyed others though but i can't remember any of them.
Album: Loose Power by Survival Knife or To Be Kind by Swans
Song: Backstairs by The New Pornographers

Off the top of my head ...

I think Caribou's album might top the list for me. Only 2 songs I really REALLY love on it, but that might be enough. Not that I really listen to albums anymore

Songs:
Clean Bandit - Rather Be
Caribou - Can't do without you, All I ever need
FKA Twigs - 2 weeks

Gigs-- Los Straitjackets in The Grand Social and The Sonics in The Róisin Dubh

I don't think I bought any memorable contemporary albums this year

I was at two gigs this year, neither of them deserve to have the word "best" associated with them

I suppose the FKA Twigs album would get my vote for album of the year. I forget what other new ones I liked

Dunno about a song either.

Best contribution to the thread so far - this one

Well anyway:

Gig: Prince (in Birmingham) OBVIOUSLY
Album: Maybe the St Vincent one. Feels terrible to be seen agreeing with NME though...
Song: Last.fm tells me my most listened to new release of 2014 is I Can't Keep the Tears from Falling by Nude Beach and who am I to argue?
