and loads of stuff already mentioned.

Ooh, right you are, 99 wasn't it? Well... hmm, replace it with The Darjeeling Ltd then.

Kind of in order, but not really:

The Royal Tenenbaums
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
No Country for Old Men
There Will Be Blood
Mulholland Drive
The Lives of Others
Dead Man's Shoes
The Man Who Wasn't There
Bowling for Columbine
City of God
Adaptation
Waltz with Bashir
In the Loop
Caché
WALL-E
Goodbye Lenin

Bunch of stuff mentioned here that I still haven't seen though.

these lists prove that the decade produced some damn fine films and that we are looking at the death of several genres of film. I'm not sure this is strictly true but are Lust Caution and No Country For Old Men the only out and out thrillers on the lists so far? Maybe it goes to show that rehashing the seventies golden age could only really last a few years. The nineties would have had the usual suspects, seven, heat, la confidential, reservoir dogs et al (and for noir enthusiasts maybe pulp fiction) but the thriller as a genre really has ground to a halt artisticly speaking. Only Tanziemti (13) or possibly The Departed spring to mind as being a good examples.

Has The Proposition been mentioned.
also Keane is worth seeing.
And IMHO The Squid and the Whale is better than all the Wes Andersson films.
Oh and Punchdrunk Love is superb.

here's mine for what it's worth

mulholland drive
no country for old men
pan's labyrinth
a histrory of violence
being john malkovich
intermission
the wind that shakes the barley
dead man's shoes
irreversible
elephant
donnie darko
inland empire
memento
old boy
a bittersweet life
inland empire
the lives of others
sunshine
hidden
o brother where art thou
the departed

I thought The Proposition was very boring, just a big long exercise in style.

Big disappointment: Margot at the Wedding, given that it followed The Squid & the Whale. I hated it.

i'm not sure if his new one looks good or if it's just that that LCD soundsystem song was made for trailers.
